1. Mountain Dew
Brominated vegetable oil (BVO) is the main harmful element that is used as an emulsifier in citrus-flavored soft drinks.
The European Union has banned BVO because it contains bromine, the component of brominated flame retardants, which can build up in the body and potentially cause skin conditions, nerve damage, and memory loss.
U.S. kids have grown up eating these colorful skittles. These rainbow-colored skittles look great, but the dye used in them has very adverse effects on young children.
Food dyes like Red 40, Yellow 5, and Yellow 6 are restricted in Europe for the consumption of infants, and any product using these colors must mention their packet with the warning phrase.
3. Dairy with rBGH or rBST hormones
Milk from the United States is banned in Europe because it is treated with either rBGH or rBST, which are synthetic man-made growth hormones used for the fast production of cow milk.
The American Cancer Society says that consuming these hormones can increase your chances of developing cancer. 4. Arsenic-laced chicken
Is your chicken breast looking pink and fresh? It’s the arsenic, the poison added to the chicken, that gives that artificial pink shade. Europe totally banned these chickens to safeguard their citizens’ health.
Adding arsenic to chicken makes the blood vessels appear pinker, making it look more aesthetically pleasing. The chicken on the grocery store shelves contains elevated levels of inorganic arsenic, a carcinogen. Don’t be fooled by those appealing fake chickens.

5. Post Honey Maid S’mores
In the U.S., popping open a box of Post’s Honey Maid S’mores doesn’t taste that different from eating it elsewhere, but it contains some hidden dangers.

As a whitening agent and dough conditioner, it is also found in packaged baked goods and bread. Although it is still allowed to be used in many foods in the U.S., it is not allowed in Europe or Australia.
It’s no surprise that some products vary depending on where you buy them since Europe is much stricter about the ingredients in food.
Even though artificial colour additives are banned or subject to warnings in Europe, M&Ms are nonetheless sold there. This is only possible because the batches produced there are coloured with natural pigments.
Mars Inc. promised to stop using artificial colours in M&Ms after receiving a petition in 2014 demanding that the U.S. receive the same high-quality ingredients as Europe, but that hasn’t happened yet.
8. U.S Pork
Most American pigs are still given the chemical ractopamine, which has been outlawed in 160 countries, including the European Union, Russia, and China.
Pigs in the United States grow extremely large and fast, and because of this, U.S. pork can’t be exported to many other countries. The pork you buy at the grocery store may contain ractopamine. Hyperactivity, elevated heart rates, behavioral changes, and heart-pounding sensations are thought to be caused by the drug. That’s why it is in our list of United States food banned in Europe.
9. Packaged Ground Beef
While pre-packaged ground beef is convenient, it contains pink slime, which reduces the fat content. The process also exposes your meat to citric acid or ammonia gas to kill bacteria.
Canada and the European Union have banned this because it is unregulated and can cause significant problems in humans. Many other countries restrict the sale of American beef due to the fact that our cows are given hormones to produce more milk, and some synthetic hormones like Trenbolone acetate, Zeranol, and Melengestrol acetate are used to promote fast growth in cattle.
10. Sugar Cane
As of now, crops in the United States can still be treated with Atrazine, an herbicide that can cause reproductive tumors, birth defects, muscle wasting, and skin sensitization.
Moreover, atrazine leaks easily into the water supply and interferes with wildlife. Almost 90% of atrazine is found in sugar cane.
